Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club will be holding its annual HUMPTY DUMPTY 10k on Sunday 14th July, running through the local villages as indicated on the attached map.
This race has been operating since 2008, firstly from Reedham VH, then we transferred to Freethorpe, before coming back to Reedham in 2023.
We try and avoid as much inconvenience to the villagers as possible – this is generally a quick race – the leaders will be through each K marker in about 3 mins from 1K.
Pottles Lane will be closed from the junction of Freethorpe Road through to Mill Road between 9.45am – 12.00 – however, once the race has started, Traffic Management will allow vehicles through until the runners return, approx. 10.25
For the protection of our runners and to keep everyone safe, we employ Traffic Management – which are placed around the course, but in particular at 2 important turnings: 5.5K Old Chapel Road & Southwood, then a little further along at the crossroads at Freethorpe Village Hall. The personnel are licensed and have the authority to stop traffic when needed.
We have 2 drinks stations around the course, usually manned by Freethorpe Cub/Scouts and they will clear up dropped cups. Our marshals are also requested to pick up any gels pack they see in their area. On the Monday, we will go around the course and clear up any further rubbish we see.
